Among a copse of trees below the Greyspine mountains, there is a stone house with wisps of smoke snaking upwards. It is the home of Elma Driviner...
Elma Driviner, a middle-aged human with long black hair, brown eyes, and skin that glows from the wind and sun, is a shepherd of some reputation. She was married off at a young age to a cruel man, who several years later met an "unfortunate accident" while prospecting for ore up in the Greyspine Mountains. Elma immediately took over managing the estate, later to be named "The Den", which included a flock of sheep and a small mine that supposedly produced gold at one point, but no longer. Despite hardships of such a bleak landscape and being alone, Elma raised her daughter, Petra, while seeing the flock grow into the largest in the region. As to the mine, she has never shown interest in or returned to it after the day her husband died.
Part of her success is that she has two exceptional sheepdogs, Jade and Emry. These two sheepdogs are exceptional in size and color. They have ice blue eyes and their rough coat is a dark green that is almost black. She calls them her angles. They first appeared after the death of her husband and seem to like her cooking. They have kept her flocks safe from any thieves, goblinoid or otherwise.
Elma and Petra are kind enough to strangers passing through. They will offering lodging in the barn, a hot meal, and directions to the closest pass or river, but do not wish for guests to linger a day more than necessary.
